Ski Haus offers a nice selection of Ursack Bear and Critter Resistant Food Sacks. They are really easy to use and are approved to be used in a growing number of our National Parks.
The Ursack food sacks are easy to backpack with. Since they are a soft puncture and tear resistant fabric they take up less space in your pack. It’s easy to stuff additional gear around these food bags. They conform easier to the space available inside your pack.
The best way to use the Ursack is to tie it high between two trees. Keep your food out of the reach of tall and acrobatic bears and critters. There is a simple knot you tie to secure the top of the bag closed and then it is easy to hang.
If you are in the tundra or in a spot without tall trees you can tie the bags low to a small tree trunk or to something secure on the ground.
In our area Rocky Mountain National Park does approve the use of the Ursack food sacks as long as you use the additional aluminum insert.
All the Ursack food sacks are certified by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee except for the Ursack Minor which is a critter only resistant food bag.
