For the last couple seasons Black Diamond, based out of Salt Lake City, has been putting out more and more fun skis. This year, in order to complement their line of light fun backcountry and front-country skis, they added the Amperage – better known as the AMP.
Intended to be a powder ski, this ski rips all over the mountain. Despite its 115mm waist the ski is incredibly nimble in the bumps and laying an edge in on the groomers. The deep side cut on the ski allows for easy turn initiation and a short turning radius. With a rockered tip and tail measuring 141mm and 123 mm (in the 174 version) this ski makes two inches feel like six. The early rise in the tip keeps you on top of the snow no matter the conditions, and the rockered tail makes the ski super playful and buttery.
This ski can handle just about anything you throw at it, originally intended for big mountain ski this ski is great on the resort and in the backcountry. According to Todd “the big show” L. Fellows our shops ski expert the Amp is, “Best Ski Black Diamond has ever made.”
