– It’s a little sad to see summer coming to a close. The season of flip flops, singletrack, and poolside beverages is nearly over. But let’s face it; winter is why most of us found our way to Steamboat Springs in the first place. Before we know it, the snow will begin to fall and we will be putting away our mountain bikes, road bikes, and open-toed shoes in favor of our skis, snowboards… and snow bikes? You heard right, biking season never really has to end. Fatbikes, as they’re called, allow us to further enjoy the epic winters of the Yampa Valley!
Fatbikes are not new on the scene; they’ve been around a few years now. However the growth in popularity has encouraged the bike industry to spend the time and money to develop new and better equipment for those who can’t stay off their bikes during the winter months! Specialized will be introducing their first Fatbike at the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas next week.
The 2014 Fatboy offers all of the fun of a Fatbike with the performance of a Specialized. The HUGE 4.6” Ground Control tires are fast rolling and provide ridiculous float and nimble handling even in the most extreme winter conditions. The new fully-butted Premium M4 Aluminum frame and Specialized FACT carbon fiber fork make for a lightweight platform with clearance for 5” tires! The Fatboy will be available in two varieties: the Fatboy and the Fatboy Expert, both of which are expected to arrive here at Ski Haus this November. And yes, we will have demos for you to play with as well!
Now you can relax and enjoy what’s left of the warm weather knowing that when winter hits, biking season doesn’t have to end. See you at the ‘Haus!
