Ruffwear Palisades™ Pack
I love my dog. He’s my best friend and we literally do everything together. We’re constantly on the trail, whether it be for a backpack, climbing approach, cross country skiing, etc. Until recently I’ve always carried little baggies of food and extra water in my pack for my boy, Blue. Now that he’s gotten a little bigger, I’ve upgraded and got him a Ruffwear Dog Pack. What a game changer!
My Experience With the Ruffwear Dog Pack
I just picked up this pack from Ski Haus last week and wanted to put it to the test. Blue is new to backpacks. He’s about 60 lbs. now and the amount of food and water it takes to satisfy him is beginning to be a real challenge to carry on a multi-day backpack, on top of all of my gear. So we went down to the San Juan Mountains and had ourselves a little adventure and gave this pack the business!
Right off the bat, I loved how easy it was to put on. The adjustment and resizing took only a couple of minutes and I only did it the one time. My favorite part about it is that you can actually remove the saddlebags from the rest of the harness. This feature is great while taking breaks, as well as use outside of the backcountry. I imagined him fighting it at first, but to my surprise he jumped, climbed, ran and pounced as if he didn’t even know it was there! There is also a feature that allows you to singe down the saddlebags on the side to keep them from flopping around while running, which I found extremely helpful.
