Ride a townie!
One of the many great things about Steamboat Springs is the opportunity to avoid traffic and pedal in the summertime. Commuting by bike is simple and efficient thanks to Yampa River Core Trail. This paved 7-mile multi-use pathway parallels the Yampa River and flows from Walton Creek Road all the way through downtown Steamboat to the Bear River Bike Park. The Core Trail provides access to most anywhere you want to go in Steamboat and can be picked up right across the street from Ski Haus.
Most Steamboat locals have a commuter bike or “townie” in their quiver for the purpose of getting around town whether riding to work, pedaling to dinner, or cruising to Howelsen for an outdoor concert. We carry a variety of bikes in this category, the most popular being the Specialized Roll and Electra Cruisers. It is also a common practice to convert an old hardtail mountain bike into pavement-friendly commuter. Remove a few gears, add a taller handlebar, a comfy saddle, some slick tires, a beverage holder, and perhaps a custom paint job and you’ve got a one-of-a-kind ride to get you from “A” to “B”. Stop by and chat with our staff, we’ll gladly help you give that old bike a new purpose!
If you’re planning a visit to Steamboat but don’t intend to bring your bike with you, check out our rental options. We have everything from beach cruisers and comfort commuters to cargo haulers! Whatever your pleasure, we have everything you need to leave the car behind… See you at the ‘Haus!
