A really fun classic ski for the track that is on sale is the Salomon Equipe RC. This ski has a very friendly kick to it. Even if you get a little tired towards the end of your ski session the ski won’t punish you if you’re not “on it” 100%. We have even heard rumors of World Cup skiers skiing this ski with a SLab paint job on it because many skiers prefer the kick of this ski. The Salomon Equipe RC is on sale for $360.00. A great matching boot and binding is the Salomon RC Carbon (sale price $200) and Salomon Propulse binding ($92). Nothing skis as good as a perfectly waxed pair of kick wax skis gliding along a nicely groomed classic track. Ooolala!
On the skate side of skis the Rossignol Xium S2 is on sale for $359. Here is a very high end ski that skis quite good and you don’t have to pay the high end price for this performance! The Xium doesn’t have the carbon fiber layer of its big brother World Cup skis so you don’t have to “punch” this ski on your kick. The Xium responds nicely no matter how much energy you place into the kick and it glides out nice, too. Here is another ski that skis great all day long without an Olympic energy requirement.
Match the Xium S2 ski with the Rossignol X10 skate boot (sale price $199) and you have a really nice skate package with tons of performance – something you will be able to ski for a long time to come.
Backcountry touring is a wonderful way to spend the day. As we move into Spring with more daylight and mild temperatures skiing up on the passes around Steamboat is crazy good. Madshus makes great “no wax” skis that offer reliable kick in a variety of widths to match how much touring you want to do versus how many turns you want to make. The Madshus EON (sale price $207) is the perfect hill and dale ski. This ski favors mileage and touring over turning but it is stable enough to arc ’em out if you want. The Madshus Epoch (sale price $239) adds width and sidecut so making turns is easier. This can be the perfect 50/50 for a XC skier who want to tour just as much as they want to make turns. And then there is the fatty Madshus Annum (sale price $263) that wants to turn turn turn. Make sure making turns is your priority with this ski!
If you like the 3 Pin or 75mm soled XC boot for your backcountry skiing then check out the Crispi Mountain Boot (sale price $183). This classic black leather boot tours very nicely and is a nice match with the Madshus Eon ski.
Other sale prices of note are on the Fischer Carbonlite Skate Ski, Fischer RCS Cold Skate Ski, Salomon S Lab Pro (men’s and women’s), Salomon RS and Vitane RS skate boots, Swix Cross CT4 poles, and more! Save money now. XC ski now!
