The Burton Barracuda has been my daily driver this winter. It can best be described as having four-wheel drive for the front, side, and backcountry. The Barracuda is a hybrid of freeride engineering and a brand new shape for 2012 (that will return for 2013). With a slightly tapered shape and directional flex combined with S-Rocker it’s a white-wave-surfer that goes up, over and through anything. Steep lines to fresh pillows and the sketchy traverses in between, its speedy ride preserves stability and provides critical edge control for slicing everything from blower to bulletproof.
This season here in Steamboat it has been more bulletproof than blower, putting the Barracuda’s versatility to the test. It has proven to be far more capable than its predecessors in a variety of conditions. And with the recent record-breaking snowfall here in the ‘Boat this freeride machine was given an opportunity to do what it does best… and it didn’t disappoint! With even more snow in the forecast, now is the time to get to the ‘Haus and get ahead of the storm!
