Boiling two cups in two minutes at 75-80% efficiency, the PCS is twice as fast and uses half as much fuel as conventional stoves. The PCS boils up to 50 cups (12 Liters) of water from only one Jetpower isobutane/propane micro-canister. Such outstanding performance results from the patent-pending FluxRing™ heat exchanger, which captures and focuses the burner’s heat.

In wilderness is the preservation of the world. Truer words have never been spoken or written. Thankfully, Steamboat Springs has become surrounded by three wonderfully distinct wilderness areas.

• Mount Zirkel Wilderness
• Flat Tops Wilderness
• Sarvis Creek Wilderness

Mount Zirkel Wilderness lies due north of Steamboat Springs and is classic Colorado alpine terrain. Twelve thousand foot peaks, tundra, high alpine lakes, cascading creeks, big trees, and big country.

It is quite obvious how the Flat Tops Wilderness got named. Broad, flat ridge tops dominate this terrain but don't be fooled. Big climbs and good efforts are still required to reach the tops of these mountains. Once you are on top, the backpacking can be a cruise but be aware, you are exposed up there, so keep an eye on the weather and plan accordingly.

Sarvis Creek Wilderness is unique amoung Colorado's wilderness areas in that it is all below timberline. You will still see and appreciate big views into the Sarvis Creek and Silver drainages but this country is dominated by timber and wildlife.

Nothing is better than spending multiple days out in the wilds backpacking and camping. The only bad thing about day hiking is you have to leave at the end of the day. Backpacking, on the other hand, allows you stay out for as long as your food holds out. Backpacking allows you to get a better feel of the land by staying longer. Your tent is your home. It will provide shelter from rain, wind, sun, snow, and boredom. With your tent, the big outside is your front and backyards.

Ask yourself a few questions and you're well on your way to buying the perfect tent. Do you need extra space for gear or a dog or two? Do you want a space effecient tent to help keep gear weight down in favor of more food? Will you be backpacking or car camping or river tripping?

Lots of considerations go into buying a tent. Ski Haus recommends setting up the tent you might like to purchase, crawl inside, and get the "feel" of the space that it offers.

There are many keys to good night's sleep when your camping out under the stars. Your sleeping bag is right there at the top of the list. Matching a sleeping bag to your needs is not difficult if you ask yourself a few questions.
• Are you a cold sleeper? Buy a bag that is rated warmer than what you might normally think.
• Will you be backpacking with your bag? A down filled bag may be the ideal choice since down offers the optimum weight to warmth ratio plus down bags compress smaller than synthetic bags.
• Do you toss and turn during the night? A rectangle shaped bag might be best rather than a mummy shape bag. (Note: mummy bags are the most efficient at keeping you warm).
